The Benefits of Green Tea Weight Loss
With all of the countless weight loss books, routines, diets, and supplements, there’s no wondering that there is such a high failure rate when it comes to the topic of weight loss. At the same time the weight loss guide industry is a multi-billion dollar industry. When it comes to weight loss there are only a couple things that we need to know. They will be broken down in this article just for you.
- Unless you plan on becoming a fitness model, body builder, or guru, leave the strict diet at the door. That’s right. All we want you to do is eat in moderation. It’s that simple. Eat four to five times per day and make sure the meals all contain healthy foods. It’s just that simple.
- Do moderate weight lifting work outs. Don’t go to the gym to try and lift as many weights as you can for as long as you can but find a very basic routine and stick to it. You’ll be surprised with the results that you will see.
- The most important of all is to limit your caloric intake to only food. That means do not drink your calories. That rule comes with one exception; green tea.
The benefits of green tea weight loss are almost unbelievable. Green tea weight loss is simply drinking green tea multiple times per week and reaping the rewards. Green tea weight loss is so beneficial that it’s almost silly not to drink it. Simply drinking green tea a few times per week can exponentially speed up your metabolism which causes the foods you eat to be processed by your body more quickly and prevents them from turning into fat; isn’t that the ultimate goal?
Another benefit of green tea weight loss is that studies have shown that men and woman that drink green tea actually burn up stagnant fat cells much better than people that do not drink green tea. This means not only does green tea weight loss help the prevention of gaining excess fat, but it also helps your body naturally and efficiently eat it’s own fat cells, leaving you toned and trim just in time for the beach or that vacation that you have been putting off.
Green tea weight loss is so inexpensive that it’s almost laughable when compared to other supplements on the weight loss market. The main benefit is that green tea weight loss has actually been proven to work, unlike these other supplements which the FDA has no jurisdiction over. Before you make your next trip to the supplement store, try heading to the grocery store instead; and pick up some green tea.
Green Tea – Weight Loss and Cancer Prevention
Drinking Green Tea is often considered to be good for weight loss. While it has long been thought to be beneficial in preventing cancer and in raising antioxidant levels in the blood stream and helping to ward off heart disease, it now is also seen to help in promoting weight loss. A study in the International Journal of Obesity has shown that the extracted green tea helps burn calories and fat as well as its other beneficial properties.
Thermogenesis is the generation of body heat that happens when the body digests food. Green tea extract has been shown in animal studies to increase this thermogenesis level and help with metabolizing food better. Other studies with humans have shown that drinking green tea boosts energy usage while increasing the body’s generating burning capability, resulting in fat loss among a group of healthy men.
Some studies have been done on the green tea extract, while other studies have tested the liquid beverage, and both have shown fat loss results.
In a recent study done by Abdul Dulloo, from the Institute of Physiology at the University of Fribourg in Switzerland, researchers used the fatty tissue from rats to compare the effects of caffeine and green tea extract with a small portion of caffeine. The green tea with caffeine significantly raised the fat burning effect from 28% to 77%, but the caffeine alone did not. “Our studies … raise the possibility that the therapeutic potential of the green tea extract, or indeed a combination of EGCG and caffeine, may be extended to the management of obesity,” Dulloo and his co-authors wrote.
However, we need to keep in mind that while green tea may help result in thermogenesis, it is not likely that green tea alone, without other forms of weight management will result in significant weight loss.
One must consider that one pound of fat equals about 3500 calories. When thinking about going on a green tea weight loss regimen, keep in mind that to lose one pound of fat over a week’s period of time, a person needs to lower their set point calorie intake and burn off level by 3500. (The set point is where they neither gain nor lose weight) This calorie reduction can come through dieting, through exercise, or a through a combination of both of these. In the case of a pound per week weight loss, that means having a calorie deficit of 500 calories per day.
Researchers suggest that if an average person drinks five cups of green tea a day, they would be burning an extra 70 to 80 extra calories through thermogenesis.
While this may be quite helpful, 70-80 calories a day is not quite the 500 calorie reduction necessary to lose one pound a week, and it is not nearly close to the calorie deficit necessary to lose the “inches per week” from a person’s waistline (like some green tea web sites would have us believe). According to the research, if a person were to make no changes other than adding five cups of green tea to their daily diet, then one could expect to take 43 days to lose one pound. Over the period of one year, that comes to a loss of about 8 pounds. So while there is a correlation between green tea, weight loss, and a healthy lifestyle, it’s not quite the miracle weight loss magic pill that we might have been led to believe.
While drinking green tea alone is not going to be satisfactory for significant weight reduction, green tea weight loss is still an easy thing to add to your weight loss program, plus it is delicious and a good way to get all the water you need in a your day to lose weight and be healthy. In addition to gaining the health benefits of green tea, losing those extra 80 calories per day can be just what you need to put you over the top in your weight loss program that also follows balanced nutritional intake and a healthy active lifestyle.
